Rudy, a Lowland Gorilla, resided at the Erie Zoo.  Rudy had his 49th birthday on January 31, 2005.  Rudy was the oldest living male gorilla in captivity.  This would be the equivalent of approximately an 80 year old man. 

It saddens me to say that Rudy is no longer with us.

Zoo says goodbye to old friend
Rudy, the world's oldest gorilla in captivity, died Tuesday at the Erie Zoo. Rudy, 49, was found by one of his keepers about 6 a.m. Tuesday, lying in his favorite spot in his enclosure. (March 8,2005)
